Women’s Careers in Auditing
I study the career progression and retention of women in Danish auditing firms. I am interested in understanding what causes the lower retention of women and why so few women progress to leadership positions. Furthermore, I am interested in how auditing firms engage with diversity initiatives and how this relates to organizational change.
The Auditing Profession
Empirically, I am interested in the auditing profession. I study the professional identity of auditors and the challenges the profession faces at large. This includes both practices internally in firms, as well as the profession’s interaction with regulators, government, the business community and society.

Using research towards agency and change

My research focuses on the auditing profession, particularly the careers and professional identities of women auditors. Using ethnographic methods, I examine the lived experience of auditors at work as well as the social and cultural aspects of Danish auditing firms.

Through my research, I am interested in engaging with analytical work that challenges taken for granted notions of auditing and auditing work, thus allowing for new and more constructive approaches to understanding the challenges that the profession faces.
