What is Danske Medier Research?

Danske Medier Research collects and publishes data on Danes’ media consumption across print, digital and audiovisual platforms. The organisation is responsible for official measurements such as newspaper circulation, readership figures, web traffic and advertising expenditure.

The data are used by media organisations, advertisers, researchers and students to analyse media habits, target groups and market developments in Denmark. On the Danske Medier website, statistics and other data can be found under the tab Branchetal.
Please note that not all statistics and data are freely available.

What can you find?

  • Circulation figures: access to verified circulation figures for a range of Danish media
  • Readership numbers: access to the official Danish readership measurement conducted by Index DK/Gallup
  • Listening figures: measurements of radio listening in Denmark as well as Danes’ consumption of podcasts
  • Web traffic: Dansk Online Index (DOI) is the official measurement of Danes’ internet use on PC and mobile platforms

Advertising and publication statistics

  • The advertising statistics for daily newspapers provide aggregated data on advertising revenue, divided into regional/local and national markets.
  • The advertising barometer for specialist media was established in 1992 to provide a well-documented basis for assessing advertising developments within this media group. The barometer from Kreativitet og Kommunikation, based on reports from the largest media and advertising agencies, captures less than ten per cent of revenue within trade journals, periodicals and specialist magazines.
  • Online market statistics: Danske Medier Research publishes the annual report Online Markedsstatistik, which offers an overview of developments across different categories of online advertising.
  • Advertising spend: Det Danske Reklamemarked (the advertising expenditure survey) is an annual overview and mapping of the Danish advertising market.
