Pia Bramming is a notable figure within research and education. She joins CBS from Aarhus University, where she has served as associate professor, director of studies and deputy head of school at DPU, where she has led major programme reforms, strengthened external partnerships and advanced cross-institutional collaborations.

She also has more than ten years of experience heading the interdisciplinary Department of Education Studies, which brings together perspectives from the humanities and social sciences.

She will take up the position as head of the Department of Business Humanities and Law (BHL) at the turn of the year.

Amplifying the department’s voice in public debates

For Pia Bramming, it is BHL’s broad academic profile that makes the department stand out.

“BHL is an environment that dares to ask big questions about how people, organisations and societies are connected. There is courage to think deeply and critically, and at the same time strong curiosity about how knowledge can drive change in practice,” says Pia Bramming.

She highlights that the combination of humanities, social sciences and law is becoming increasingly important:

“ “We are in the middle of technological, social and political shifts, where classic questions of ethics, power, culture, regulation and human behaviour are once again central in the business community and society at large. This is the strength of BHL, and I want to help unfold it even further.” ” Pia Bramming

One of her clear priorities as head of department is to strengthen BHL’s visibility internally as well as externally.

“There is great potential in making our knowledge more visible at CBS, in the business community and in public debates. I will work to ensure that the department’s researchers become even more prominent voices in discussions where perspectives from the humanities and social sciences are essential,” she says.

CBS’ Deputy President: “Pia Bramming sets direction in complex environments”

According to Inger Askehave, CBS’ Deputy President, Pia Bramming is known for her direct and visionary approach, and she brings many years of experience working across disciplines. This makes her a strong match for leading a department like BHL, which brings together a broad range of disciplines essential to CBS’ ability to educate and conduct research in a holistic way that addresses the needs and challenges of the business community and society.

Inger Askehave also highlights the strategic importance of BHL:

“BHL contributes the humanistic, cultural and legal perspectives that are crucial for understanding developments in the business community and society. With Pia Bramming as head of department, we gain a strong profile who can raise the department’s role and visibility in the business community and in society in general,” says Inger Askehave.
