PhD Defense: Leonie Decrinis

Mandag, 8 april, 2024 - 10:00 to 12:00

Leonie Decrinis

In order to obtain the PhD degree, Leonie Decrinis has submitted her thesis entitled:

Nudging in the workplace: Exploring a micro-level approach towards corporate sustainability

In her thesis, Leonie Decrinis focuses on micro-level organisational dynamics and assesses the application of nudging as a managerial approach to encourage behaviour change in support of corporate sustainability. The role of individuals in shaping environmental, social and governance outcomes of organisations remains understudied, with limited insights into the drivers and mechanisms underlying sustainable behaviour change. Leonie’s dissertation provides insights about these drivers and mechanisms, highlighting how nudges can effectively target employee decision-making through adjustments in the organisational context. The main arguments of the thesis stem from three distinct papers, each with unique research objectives, methodologies, and approaches. Overall, the dissertation suggests encouraging prospects for the use of nudges to promote employee sustainable behaviour by addressing cognitive and non-cognitive determinants of individual decision-making. Moving forward, it is essential to leverage this potential by integrating nudges with other management practices to harness intervention synergies.

The thesis will be available from research.cbs.dk
