My main research evolves around self-managing organization and how new forms of organizing shapes collaboration between public employees.

I am interested in how self-organizing are being applied in practice as a new way to create public value, and how radical decentralization can co-exist with hierarchy in hybrid structures within public organizations.

My PhD dissertation was focusing on self-managing organizations, as a novel organizational structure. I explored to public case studies, a self-managing public addiction rehabilitation agency and a self-managing hospital department during their work distributing decision authority, managerial roles, and evaluation of conflicts and performance to the frontline- employee level. My results are linked to how the dynamics of coordination and conflicts changes, when managerial authority is distributed to employees and how this affects the outcome of their work.
