Driving low-carbon transitions in maritime logistics
Associate Professor Liping Jiang’s research focuses on the economics and strategic management of shipping. She investigates how emission targets, financial mechanisms, and investor behavior influence decarbonization strategies in the maritime sector. Her work bridges shipping economics, market analysis, and environmental policy to guide investment in alternative fuels, technologies, and operations.
Liping’s recent studies explore green premiums, sustainable investment in container shipping, and fuel adoption strategies using contingency theory and quantitative modelling. She leads and contributes to externally funded projects involving private and public partners, offering actionable insights for regulators, firms, and investors.
She is motivated by the urgent need to create economically viable paths to sustainable maritime logistics. Her research contributes to UN SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). Liping also teaches shipping economics, business analytics, and risk management, preparing students to navigate the future of global transport with responsibility and foresight.
