“CBS is a strong business university that produces research of great importance to the Danish business community and has an ambitious agenda with a particular focus on ensuring that research creates value for society,” says Morten Frederiksen and adds:

“This is an ambition shared by all universities, but I see a particular potential at CBS, and I want to help realise it. There is a great deal of interesting research going on, and the focus areas within the green transition, AI, responsible leadership as well as geopolitics and security are topics that I care deeply about.”

Morten Frederiksen also emphasises that research at CBS is of a high international standard. This was recently confirmed when CBS for the second year in a row ranked number one globally within business administration in the ShanghaiRanking, which compares 2,500 universities worldwide.

A background in sociology

“ Morten will play a central role in boosting our position as an internationally leading business school with strong ties to society and high academic standards. ” Peter Møllgaard
President of CBS

Morten Frederiksen holds a degree in sociology and a PhD from the University of Copenhagen. As a researcher and research director at Aalborg University, he spent several years working with norms and values, public administration and the role of civil society in the welfare state.

Two years ago, he became dean at Roskilde University, where he is responsible for the university’s social sciences research and programmes.

“I am genuinely looking forward to working with Morten and welcoming him as part of Senior Management at CBS. His background in sociology will complement our academic competences within management, economics and communication, and he also adds to the extensive experience that Senior Management brings from Danish and international universities,” says Peter Møllgaard, President of CBS, and adds:

“Morten will play a central role in boosting our position as an internationally leading business school with strong ties to society and high academic standards. Other key priorities will be to advance our efforts in entrepreneurship and innovation. I am confident that he will succeed in this in close collaboration with our dedicated employees.”

Morten Frederiksen replaces Søren Hvidkjær, who will return to his professorship when his fixed-term appointment ends.
