Presentation

My research deals with language from a theoretical and practical point of view.  My main theoretical interests involve the formal mechanisms underlying the construction of meaning in language. This involves the interface between syntax and semantics in individual sentences, and the relations  between sentences in discourse. This theoretical work provides the underpinning for topics of practical interest to business and society: in particular, automatic translation, sentiment analysis, and social media analytics.

Primary research areas
  • Computational linguistics
  • Theoretical linguistics
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Machine learning
  • Neural networks
