Primary research areas
Intellectual Property and Sustainability
With European colleagues I explore circularity and upcycling as design strategies, consumer perceptions of upcycled branded goods and propose legal reforms to better align European design protection with incentive structures for sustainability and circular economy goals.
Creativity, Intellectual Property and Emerging Technologies
With colleagues from Europe, Oceania and North America I explore the interplay between technology, creativity and copyright focusing on AI-generated works, legal challenges and the evolution of intellectual property in the digital era.
Histories of Design, Technology & Copyright
I research the historical development of design and copyright law and their interactions with shifting technologies, focusing on how legal concepts like originality, copying and digital reuse shape creative industries.
Advancing responsible IP laws for creativity and sustainability
My research is shaped by three core aims:
(1) To develop intellectual property strategies and frameworks that support responsible design innovation in Danish companies and startups, while addressing the challenges of value destruction caused by unauthorized copying of designs.
(2) To advance the green transition in the legal protection of design by rethinking incentive structures within intellectual property regimes.
3) To enhance human creativity at the intersection of intellectual property, new technologies and business.
