Primary research areas
Green Finance
My core research interest lies within the political economy of green finance. I am particularly interested in the role of experts and organisations in financing the green transition. My research focuses on expert networks and EU sustainable finance, fossil fuels and stranded assets, and activist-investor cooperation and contestation.
Sustainability Reporting Standards
A strand of my research focuses on accounting standard-setting and sustainability reporting. Drawing on Science and Technology Studies (STS) and International Political Economy (IPE), I investigate how standard-setters seek to harmonize the space of corporate reporting and create a comprehensive green accounting infrastructure.
Transnational Governance
My broader research interest is related to transnational governance, focusing on the governance of global financial markets and global environmental governance.
Mixed Methods
My methodological toolbox is eclectic. In my research, I draw on both qualitative methods (semi-structured interviews, document research) and computational methods (social network analysis, text analysis, career sequence analysis).
I look for ways green finance can either enable or constrain the green transition.
My research is contributing to solving one of the grand challenges of today – climate change – by asking questions related to the role of financial markets in financing the green transition. It contributes to creating knowledge of how green finance works and who it empowers. This is relevant for policymakers, regulators, investors and civil society.
