Presentation and academic fields

I have researched and taught subjects related to the use of digital and social media since 1999. My interest has been to study the interplay between platform affordances, individual motivation and social behaviour in relation to for instance mourning, politics and transmedial world fandom, and to contribute to the development of the field of social media studies in Denmark. My current interests include to better understand the impact of AI and data on mourning practices and visual storytelling, and to develop a typology of serial storytelling, and to develop a typology of serial storytelling formats on social media.

Professional and/or academic experience

I have worked as an Assistant and Associate professor at the IT University in Copenhagen from 2007-2023, and I am currently employed as External Lecturer at the University of Copenhagen and the Roskilde University. teaching subjects and supervising projects related to digital media and communication.

I have disseminated and shared expert knowledge related to digital culture and social media in the Danish press for many years. Other work outside academy, includes serving as an advisory editor at Samfundslitteratur, and as author of several non-academic articles in various Danish publications.

Pedagogical experience/method skills/supervision

I have substantial experience in supervising projects and have supervises more then 100 MA-theses, and a large number of BA projects.

I am happy to supervise projects in the areas of social media uses, strategic communication on social media, digital culture and data, and AI use in the everyday life of ordinary people and organizations.
