Triple Crown accreditation
CBS takes part in international and national accreditations
The main purposes of the international accreditations are:
- International branding and
- Learning about international best practice in quality within education, research and administration.
The national accreditation was introduced by law in 2007.
CBS is Triple Crown accredited, which is a distinction achieved by only about 130 business schools worldwide. These schools rank among the very best globally. The group includes INSEAD, London Business School, IMD and Rotterdam School of Management.
Four accreditations
Since 2000, CBS has been accredited by:
- The national accreditation
- EQUIS (EFMD Quality Improvement System)
- AMBA (Association of MBAs) – since 2007
- AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) – since 2011
CBS was the first school in Scandinavia to be accredited by the American AACSB.
The three international accreditations are necessary because they carry different brand value in different parts of the world and focus on distinct aspects despite several similarities.
EQUIS has a strong emphasis on research, internationalisation and partnerships with the business community, while AACSB focuses strongly on management, employee qualifications, education and learning. AMBA covers only MBA/MPA programmes.
The Danish accreditation is required by law and focuses on CBS' quality assurance systems for education. It is administered by the Danish Accreditation Institution.

Subsidies for student organisations
CBS receives an annual subsidy from the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science (UFM) for the Student Council. In 2024, CBS received a subsidy of DKK 113,867.
Each year, CBS allocates subsidies to student organisations that have elected representatives in the governing bodies. The distribution is proportional to the number of elected representatives, but a prerequisite for receiving funds is that the elected member represents an association that is active at CBS.
The allocated amount may only be used to cover expenses related to student-oriented activities as well as office assistance and office operations supporting the elected representatives. The funds may not be used to pay or cater for the representatives themselves, and they may only be used in connection with the elected members’ activities at CBS.
The amounts are transferred by CBS to the accounts provided by the organisations. From that point on, it is the organisations’ responsibility to ensure that the subsidy is used in compliance with the rules and can be accounted for at the request of Internal Audit.
The tables below show the distribution of the funds that CBS has allocated to student organisations over the past three years.
