Course content

This course discusses the main principles of logistics and supply chain management and the implications for shipping. The module addresses the importance of a customer orientation as well as the impact of changing macro trends creating extreme volatility in market demand. The participants will gain an understanding of the importance of managing the end-to-end supply chain.

  • Identify and discuss recent developments in global trade impacting global transportation and maritime logistics management
  • Explain concepts, theories, models and frameworks in order to analyse sourcing and supply management practices and their relation to the organisation and the supply chain
  • Identify and contrast the different strategies that are applicable in the design of supply chains
  • Apply central parts of the module material to a practical logistics or supply chain management problem
  • Explore and resolve supply chain management issues and communicate with others in the field, thereby contributing to the development of good practice
