Appointment of Maria J. Figueroa as Review Editor for the next IPCC Report

We are pleased to announce that Associate Professor Maria Josefina Figueroa from our Centre has been appointed asΒ π‘πžπ―π’πžπ° 𝐄𝐝𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫 for the forthcomingΒ πˆππ‚π‚ π€π¬π¬πžπ¬π¬π¦πžπ§π π‘πžπ©π¨π«π (π€π‘πŸ•)

We are pleased to announce that Associate Professor Maria Josefina Figueroa from our Centre has been appointed as π‘πžπ―𝐒𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐝𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫 for the forthcoming πˆππ‚𝐂 π€π¬π¬πžπ¬π¬π¦πžπ§π π‘πžπ©π¨π«π (π€π‘πŸ•), the leading global scientific effort to assess and communicate the state of climate change knowledge.

Maria Figueroa is one of only 11 researchers in Denmark contributing to AR7. As a Review Editor, she will ensure that expert, business, and government comments are thoroughly addressed, and that diverse scientific perspectives, including differing viewpoints, are fairly represented in the final report.

Her role is within Working Group III, focusing on climate change mitigation and more specifically πΆβ„Žπ‘Žπ‘π‘‘π‘’π‘Ÿ 11: π‘‡π‘Ÿπ‘Žπ‘›π‘ π‘π‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘‘ π‘Žπ‘›π‘‘ π‘šπ‘œπ‘π‘–π‘™π‘–π‘‘π‘¦ π‘ π‘’π‘Ÿπ‘£π‘–π‘π‘’π‘  π‘Žπ‘›π‘‘ π‘ π‘¦π‘ π‘‘π‘’π‘šπ‘ . This reflects her expertise at the intersection of climate, governance, and societal change, and underlines the growing contribution of social science to global climate assessments.

At our Centre, we are proud of this recognition and look forward to engaging with and learning from this critical international process, while continuing to build knowledge that informs policy, business, and society on pathways to a just, climate-resilient, and sustainable future.
