Application deadline

A postdoctoral researcher position is available at the Department of Marketing of the Copenhagen Business School starting 1st August 2026.
The position is limited until 15th November 2027.

Job description
The Department of Marketing (MARKTG) at CBS invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position primarily in the context of the Horizon EU project Hort2thefuture - Horticultural innovations in soil‑friendly practices to ensure a sustainable future. The project addresses key sustainability challenges in European horticulture, including reliance on peat-based growing media, inefficient use of agricultural inputs (such as fertilisers, pesticides, water, energy, and growing media), and suboptimal soil health caused by unsustainable management practices.

The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and play a central role in scientific coordination and project management across the international consortium, including planning, monitoring and reporting of work packages, while also contributing to research and dissemination activities.
The role will also involve other assignments at the department.

Main duties:

  • Support the overall coordination and day to day management of Hort2thefuture in close collaboration with the PI, including timelines, milestones, deliverables, and risk monitoring in line with Horizon Europe requirements.
  • Coordinate and prepare project reports and deliverables (scientific and administrative), consolidate inputs from partners, and ensure quality and timely submission to the European Commission.
  • Organise and follow up on consortium meetings, living lab activities, stakeholder workshops and other project events, including agendas, minutes, and action tracking.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project partners, including internal updates, document sharing, and adherence to governance procedures.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and analysis of experiments and surveys related to behaviour change and adoption of sustainable horticultural practices.
  • Co author high-quality research papers and contribute to dissemination and communication activities (academic conferences, policy briefs, practitioner workshops, project website and social media).

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Has proven experience in managing or coordinating complex research projects, ideally EU funded (Horizon Europe/H2020 or similar), including planning, reporting and partner coordination.
  • Is highly organised, proactive and detail oriented, able to independently drive processes, follow up on tasks, and keep multiple work streams on track.
  • Is motivated to combine project management and research, and to support the PI in both the strategic and operational aspects of project execution.
  • Has strong analytical skills (e.g. statistics and data analysis) and experience with qualitative research and/or survey-based studies in behavioural science, marketing, psychology, or related fields.
  • Communicates fluently in English, both written and spoken; experience with international and interdisciplinary teams is a strong asset.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, such as marketing, consumer behavior, psychology, behavioral economics, sustainability science, or related social sciences.
  • Documented experience in research/project management, such as coordination of work packages, supervision of assistants, organisation of project events, or preparation of project reports and deliverables in multi-partner projects.
  • Experience or strong interest in topics related to sustainability, agriculture/horticulture, food systems, or environmental behaviour will be considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Horizon Europe / Horizon 2020 rules and reporting procedures is highly desirable.
  • To fulfil the research requirements of the position, the selected applicant is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and to actively participate in the activities of the department.

We offer:

  • The opportunity to conduct cutting-edge behavioural research as part of an interdisciplinary, international network
  • Opportunities to enhance your scientific and professional network
  • The possibility to establish collaborations that may lead to future research projects
