I am interested in how networks of professionals and experts shape processes of market formation, development, and failure in high-technology sectors such as biotechnology. More specifically, my research looks into the emergence of a market for industrial enzymes, which have gained increasing policy attention at national and supra-national levels in light of civic and political demands for a transition to a low-carbon economy.
Methodologically, my research draws on social network analysis, sequence analysis, and qualitative methods such as interviews and content analysis.
I am affiliated with the Velux Foundation sponsored project NICHE (Expert Niches: How Local Networks Leverage Markets), which studies how experts and environment interact to develop new markets.
