Business and Human Rights - Cooperation between Mexico and Denmark

BHRs_Seminar

Abstract

In 2011, the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council unanimously endorsed the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which establish the roles and responsibilities of companies and governments around the world. While we continue to hear about direct and indirect corporate human rights abuses against (indigenous) communities, employees and human rights defenders and others, apparently government efforts from emerging and developed countries to integrate the UN Guiding Principles into their internal and foreign policy agendas are on the rise.

The objective of this seminar is to present and discuss the effort being developed by Mexico and Denmark on Business and Human Rights. The seminar will address the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in April 2016 between Mexico and the Danish Institute for Human Rights to develop Mexico’s National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights. The seminar will end with a plenary discussion.

We hope that you will join this interesting opportunity to advance our understanding on Business and Human Rights.
