The Department of Management, Society and Communication is delighted to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Maria J. Figueroa (MSC/CBS) as Review Editor for the forthcoming IPCC Assessment Report (AR7) — the leading global scientific effort to assess and communicate the state of climate change knowledge.

Maria Figueroa is one out of 11 selected researchers based at Danish research institutions that in some form or shape will be contributing to the AR7. As a Review Author, Maria Figueroa will support the IPCC’s commitment to scientific integrity by ensuring that expert, business sector and government comments are thoroughly addressed, and that diverse scientific perspectives—including points of disagreement—are fairly reflected in the final report.

Maria Figueroa’s focus as a Review Editor is in the AR7 Working Group III, which addresses climate change mitigation, assessing methods for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and removing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, and in particular Ch. 11 Transport and mobility services and systems. The important role as a Review Editor reflects her expertise at the intersection of climate, governance, and societal change, and reflects the growing contribution of social science to global climate assessments.

At MSC, we are proud of this recognition and look forward to engaging with and learning from this critical international process and continuing to build knowledge that informs policy, business, and society on pathways to a just, climate resilient and sustainable future.
