Inauguration of Adjunct Professor at MSC
Colin Melvin, Managing Director, Arkadiko Partners, is new Adjunct Professor at MSC
On 3 June 2025, Colin Melvin, freshly minted Adjunct Professor at MSC, delivered his Inaugural Lecture, followed by a panel discussion with Louise Jørring Gev, Head of Equities, LD Fonde; Ole Buhl, Senior VP, Environment Social Governance, ATP; and Andreas Rasche, Professor, Dep. of Management, Society and Communication, CBS, moderated by Steen Vallentin, Academic Co-Director, Centre for Sustainability at CBS.
Colin has over 25 years of global leadership in sustainable investment and stewardship. He has extensive experience shaping corporate and investment strategies, strengthening governance, aligning incentives, and contributing to market regulation for sustainable economies. He is Founder and Managing Director of Arkadiko Partners, and is Honorary Professor at Heriot-Watt University, External Lecturer at Bayes and Copenhagen Business Schools and a member of a family office Investment Advisory Committee.
Previously, Colin was Global Head of Stewardship at Hermes Investment Management and CEO of Hermes EOS, the world’s largest stewardship service, which he founded. He also led stewardship at Baillie Gifford and Standard Life Investments and developed and chaired various initiatives including the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, Influence Map, and Future-Fit Foundation, alongside advisory roles with the British Academy, Oxford’s Saïd Business School, and the UK Government’s Ownership Commission. He served as non-executive director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee at Aedas.
In his inaugural, Colin explored how long-term investors can provide leadership in a time of profound disruption in global investment markets: Political polarisation, cultural tensions and regulatory divergence - especially between the US and Europe - have fractured the consensus around sustainable investing and long-term value creation. Drawing on his vast experience in stewardship and sustainability, Colin argued that far from being a time for retreat, now is a defining moment for asset owners to reassert their purpose, sharpen their judgement and reconfirm their mandates.
At MSC and CBS, we are looking forward to working with Colin in his new capacity as Adjunct Professor at Copenhagen Business School. With his impressive track record of wider global engagement, thought leadership and a whole-of-firm approach to managing organisations, Colin is uniquely positioned to nurture industry-academia interaction, pursuing knowledge and action that make a positive difference, now also together with Copenhagen Business School.
