Copenhagen Business School invites applications for two vacant Teaching Associate Professorships at the Department of Organization (IOA).

A Teaching Associate Professorship is a permanent full-time position with teaching obligations. Besides teaching in IOA’s programs, we expect the applicant to also:

  • Undertake pedagogical/didactical development of our teaching methods and inspire other faculty members

  • Plan and coordinate courses and programs and be prepared to be part of a team

  • Have qualifications at level 3 of the Danish framework for advancing university pedagogy

  • Be active in developing new teaching material and/or publishing on teaching pedagogy or related areas

  • Have an interest in life-long learning

The department’s teaching responsibilities comprise undergraduate and graduate teaching as well as teaching in executive education and doctoral education.

The Department of Organization has a wide range of teaching responsibilities. These include, but are not limited to, the following programs: HA projektledelse; HA psykologi; BSc in International Business and Politics; MSc in Economics and Business Administration in Strategy, Organization and Leadership (SOL); Cand.Soc Human Resource Management; Cand.merc. Psykologi; and MSc in International Business and Politics. IOA also delivers teaching in executive education programs, including the Danish language programs such as Master in Public Governance (MPG), Master in Management Development (MMD) and HD2 Organisation og Ledelse (HDO). Supervision tasks relating to the educational programs are as integral part of the position.

IOA is a longstanding international department with an ambitious and friendly atmosphere comprising currently around 55 faculty and 25 PhD students and postdocs as well as administrative staff. Pursuing a problem-oriented, business-in-society-approach to studying and theorizing organizations and organizing processes at all levels, our mission is to carry out high quality research and research-based teaching characterized by empirical curiosity, methodological strength, theoretical depth, and critical thinking. Our social-scientific approach includes scholarly traditions such as organization theory, sociology, organizational psychology, science and technology studies, and political economy. We use qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods.

A Teaching Associate Professor must be physically present at CBS’s campus and actively participate in the teaching activities of the department as well as in department meetings on development and strategy.

 

Responsibilities
  • Teaching, examination, and supervision in the department’s teaching areas and programs (see above)
  • Course administration and development
  • Promoting and developing the teaching capabilities of Copenhagen Business School and the department

 

Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a relevant academic field (at least a master’s degree and preferably a PhD degree).
  • Substantial university-level teaching experience in one or more of the department’s teaching areas corresponding to level 3 in the Danish framework for advancing university pedagogy from Universities Denmark
  • Documented and strong teaching qualifications (quantitative teaching evaluations are generally preferred at CBS).
  • Proficiency in Danish and English (teaching level). Programs at CBS are both in Danish and English.  
  • Publication of teaching material (teaching cases, contributions to textbooks etc.) is an advantage.

  4. A teaching portfolio documenting teaching qualifications and pedagogical development. The portfolio must include an overview of the applicants past teaching achievements and practice and its impact on the students, reflections on pedagogical competencies and core strengths, the educational competencies the applicant would like to develop, and the teaching opportunities they would like to pursue in the nearest future.  Recruitment procedure

The Recruitment Committee will shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.

The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.

Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.

Copenhagen Business School must receive all application material, including all appendices (see items above), by the application deadline.
