Pre-Doctoral Research Assistants (Data Scraping, Database Organization and Data Analysis) Department of Strategy and Innovation, Copenhagen Business School
Copenhagen Business School (CBS) invites applications for two Research Assistant positions at the Department of Strategy and Innovation. One of the positions will have a focus on with a focus on data scraping, the other on data analysis. The positions are full-time appointments for a duration of 10 months, with an expected start date of September 2026.
The applicant selected for the position with a focus on data scraping will be responsible for assembling, cleaning, organising, and exploring databases to support research projects conducted under the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship. The applicant selected for the position with a focus on data analysis will be responsible for organizing and analysing data to support to support research projects conducted under the Chair. In addition to research-related tasks, the positions include a limited share of administrative and project support activities (approximately 20%).
The positions are well suited to candidates who wish to further develop their research skills prior to applying to PhD programmes. Depending on the candidates’ interests, there may be opportunities to become more closely involved in specific research projects. The role is also suitable for candidates who do not plan to pursue a research career, provided they possess solid technical skills and are interested in applying these skills to management and strategy projects, particularly within the field of entrepreneurship.
QualificationsApplicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent qualifications and demonstrate professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Applicants for the first position should have solid knowledge of Python, preferably with experience in scraping publicly accessible databases. Knowledge of Stata is desirable (but can be replaced by willingness and demonstrated ability to learn). Knowledge of economics is considered an asset for both positions, as ensuring data coherence and consistency is an important part of the role. For the second position, solid knowledge of statistical methods and ability to work with Stata are key; knowledge of R, Python, and Machine Learning is desirable. About the DepartmentResearch at the Department of Strategy and Innovation focuses on strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship, and international business, which together form the foundation of the department’s teaching and research activities. The department comprises approximately 80 staff members, including around 45 faculty members (professors, associate professors, and tenure-track assistant professors), 7 administrative staff members, and approximately 30 staff on temporary contracts, such as research assistants, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD students.
The department aims to build a leading international research and teaching environment in its core areas. Its research is theoretically eclectic, combining insights from strategy and internationalisation theory with perspectives from economics, sociology, psychology, and economic geography. Methodologically, the department places a firm emphasis on the rigorous application of empirical methods, including qualitative interviews, surveys, register data, and experiments.
Teaching within the department spans a wide range of programmes and subject areas and is largely aligned with its four core research areas: strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship, and international business.
Terms of employment
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Recruitment procedure
The Recruitment Committee expects to shortlist a minimum of two applicants, and, when possible, five or more applicants may be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.
Applicants selected for assessment will be notified of the composition of the Assessment Committee and, later in the process, of the outcome of the assessment.
Once the recruitment process is completed, each applicant will be notified of the final outcome of their application.
