Con­tracts and Games
How can co­oper­a­tion be sus­tained un­der con­flict and asym­met­ric in­form­a­tion? My re­search ana­lyzes con­tract­ing and game set­tings, of­fer­ing mod­els and solu­tions to align in­cent­ives.
Per­form­ance Eval­u­ation
How can per­form­ance be meas­ured? My re­search ad­vances fron­ti­er-based meth­ods com­bin­ing math­em­at­ic­al pro­gram­ming and eco­no­met­rics for bench­mark­ing in­volving mul­tiple per­form­ance di­men­sions.
Ap­plied Reg­u­la­tion
How can nat­ur­al mono­pol­ies like wa­ter, gas and elec­tri­city net­works be dis­cip­lined without com­pet­i­tion? My re­search de­vel­ops bench­mark­ing-based in­cent­ives and ap­plies it to reg­u­la­tions in nu­mer­ous sec­tors and coun­tries.

How can dif­fer­ent firms and sec­tors be eval­u­ated and how can it guide shar­ing of best prac­tices? My re­search bench­marks man­u­fac­tur­ing com­pan­ies, banks, hos­pit­als, schools, mu­ni­cip­al­it­ies, coun­tries etc. and de­vel­ops in­ter­act­ive tools to sup­port learn­ing.
Ap­plied Con­tracts and Co­oper­at­ives
How can con­tracts and co­oper­at­ives solve co­ordin­a­tion, in­cent­ive, and trans­ac­tion costs prob­lems? My re­search com­bines the­ory and prac­tice to design pro­duc­tion and out­sourcing con­tracts, fair rules for costs and sur­plus al­loc­a­tions, trans­fer pri­cing etc.

Sound The­ory and Real Im­pact

Peter Bogetoft has published more than 100 scientific articles and seven books, contributing to areas such as planning, accounting, political economy, mechanism design, decision theory, industrial organization, cooperatives, contracting, and software development. His research spans from pure theory to empirical testing and normative applications. 

Peter Bogetoft has collaborated with industry and government bodies in many countries on the application of theory, particularly in decision making, contract design, regulation, and benchmarking. 

Peter Bogetoft has also co-founded three research spin-offs: one specializing in network regulation, one developing and implementing interactive benchmarking software, and one combining encrypted computation with mechanism design and blockchain technology.
