From lived experience to better policy

My research examines how gendered social, religious and cultural norms shape organizations, translating insights into more inclusive, ethical and sustainable practices and policies.

Claudia Eger is Associate Professor of Business Ethics and Sustainability and Study Director of the B.Sc. in Business Administration and Service Management at Copenhagen Business School.

In my research, I center upon the challenges and complexities of business in society and the ways in which these interrelate with wider questions about ethics, sustainability, and gender. My work builds on a core concern for various forms of inequality, aiming for both a socially and culturally embedded understanding of inequality and the development of theory that captures and is responsive to these nuances. I conduct empirical research in different Middle Eastern and African countries addressing concerns of relevance to international organizations and policy makers, striving to inform gender and development strategies. Moreover, I am on the editorial board of Business Ethics Quarterly

The project ‘Wejourney’ is funded by the Carlsberg Foundation. It explores how diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) principles are understood, implemented, and negotiated in Arab and Muslim-majority contexts. It examines the cultural, institutional, and organizational dynamics that shape inclusive employment practices for women across the region.
