Vishv Priya Kohli, Assistant Professor at CBS Law, was invited to be a panellist at the 4th IP and Competition Forum at the University of Oxford last week.
The conference entitled ‘Globalisation and FRAND - coming to grips with the interplay of IP & Competition Law’ was held on 18th October 2019 at St. Cross College, University of Oxford.
The panel that Priya contributed to discussed the topic ‘Intellectual Property and Competition Perspectives on Standard Essential Patents’.

Amongst the distinguished speakers and panellists were:

  • Honourable Judge Fabian Hoffmann, who has served as a judge of Bundesgerichtshof (Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe, Germany) since 2010
  • Professor Thomas Cotter, University of Minnesota, USA
  • Professor Valerio Sterzi, University of Bordeaux, France
  • Dr. Roya Ghafele, University of Oxford, UK.

The topics that were covered in the conference were the landscape of Standard Essential Patents litigation and Standard Essential Patents Validity Rates;
Assessing the effects of non-practicing entities on Innovation diffusion; Should FRAND licensing rates be global; The impact of Global FRAND rates on Licensing Negotiation; and The Collective Management of IP: Patent pools.
