Seminar: abductive reasoning

Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 10:00 to 11:00

One of the important logics of analysis is called abductive reasoning. It is principle that many researchers use to explain various aspects of their research. It has been applied in various ways and to various parts of the research process in various ways. Therefore, it seems to be a concept that can inspire in many ways.

This seminar aims to enable a discussion about how the concept is and can be made fruitful. It is not primarily aimed at formulating a best way of understanding abductive reasoning but to help a discussion among PEØ researchers about it theory and practice. This is particularly interesting because we have found a well written and inspiring article of abductive reasoning by two OM-researchers.

The seminar starts by a short introduction to the paper and some suggestions for further discussions by Ivar Friis.  Then follows a discussion about the paper and its implications influenced by the experiences of participants around the table.
