Guest lecture with the renowned Japanese professor Eiji Ogawa

The topic of the lecture is “The Status and Challenges of Economic Integration in Europe and Asia: with Focus upon Regional Currency Cooperation”. The lecture will be in Japanese but will be translated into English.

The presentation focuses on regional monetary cooperation in the context of the global financial crises. Prof. Ogawa will discuss the turmoil of currency exchange regimes both in Europe and in Asia. Drawing on the significant lesson from the experience in Europe, he will discuss the regional monetary cooperation in East Asia and give some policy proposals for strengthening regional monetary cooperation in the region.

Professor Eiji Ogawa is the Vice President of the Graduate School of Commerce and Management, Hitotsubashi University, in Tokyo. His area of expertise includes the international monetary system, exchange market systems in East Asia and Economic Partnership Agreements (EPA).

Professor Niels Thygesen, Department of Economics, Copenhagen University, will be discussant.
