Why did I choose my programme?     
My curiosity for languages started already from my time in high school as well as in my gap years abroad. English and German became areas I really wished to improve. I think learning foreign languages is so interesting but challenging at the same time. In my opinion, this contributes to a strong professional profile. BLC felt like the perfect programme to develop this competency while also having super relevant courses regarding economics, culture, and sustainability.  

What do I like the best?     
I really enjoy the amount of freedom this programme leaves you regarding self-study. There’s space for everyone to put in the energy they feel like. On the other hand, this also requires more motivation. Here, the best part of studying BLC and one of my main motivation drivers are my fellow students. We go together, keep up with lectures and exercise classes etc. while making it fun. This also contributes to such a cool study environment! 

What do I think is difficult?     
Something I found difficult – especially in the beginning – was to manage my time. It can be challenging to figure out how to prioritise all the new courses and study activities, having a job, still seeing friends and family while having some free time for yourself, without feeling stressed.  

What would I have liked to have known before starting my programme?     
You are never alone. Everyone is in it for the first time, and everyone has different strengths. If you struggle more with the third language than the mathematic subjects or vice versa – some of your fellow students most likely feel the opposite and can help you out. We all help each other. 

What do I want to do after finishing my programme?     
I dream about continuing this programme with a master’s degree and a job focusing on sustainability and/or diversity and inclusion. I feel like the BLC programme opens many different possibilities to do this, both on a national and international level.  

If I could give myself a piece of advice, before starting it would be…     
Take it chill! Put in the efforts you find appropriate for you, take breaks, be dedicated but don’t stress over it. Romanticise the way you study  as much as possible, since it is so important to have fun with it, and it will help you to stay motivated.
