Spotlight Seminars
CBS Centre for Business History Aarhus Trip

The Centre for Business History has a bi-weekly seminar series on Tuesdays, 9-10:30am, which we colloquially call "Spotlight." We schedule seminars in November for the spring semester (January through June) and in July for the fall semester (September through December). Our first priority are our emerging scholars who we support in their development of paper and book projects. Our PhD students, moreover, have several "Work-In-Progress" seminars with internal and external commentators.
We also regularly devote sessions to methodological questions and have had good discussions of Microhistory and Hermeneutics (Dan Wadhwani), Materiality and Embodiment (Louise Karlskov Skyggebjerg and Martin Djupdræt), Social History / Longue Durée (Alfred Reckendrees) and Uses of the Past (Mads Mordhorst). Our "History Slam" with short paper idea discussions is popular with the internals and our visitors.
Occasionally, we combine our seminar with an excursion. In the summer of 2021, we visited the Smidstrup Strand and benefited from Joachim Lund's discussion of the evacuation of Danish Jews during World War 2 from this exact location. In 2022, we enjoyed a spring outing to Aarhus. We visited the Gender Museum, the Occupation Museum, and Den Gamle By, where we had interesting conversations with curators and stakeholders of these institutions. Every fall semester, we join all research groups of the department for an interdisciplinary retreat at Helsingør to discuss our work with management and entrepreneurship scholars, philosophers, political scientists, and legal scholars.
