Successful conference about the planning of the future of owner-managed businesses
Centre for Owner-Managed Businesses by CBS, INSEAD and the Danish Industry Foundation welcomed around 150 people on Friday, April 15, 2016 to the conference "Owner Management - Plan for the future." The conference put spotlight on Danish owner-managed businesses, and had a special focus on owner-strategy, active ownership and planning for future business development.

Professor and Director of the Centre for Owner-Managed Businesses, Niels Westergaard-Nielsen began the conference by welcoming everyone and introduced the cause of the conference. Watch his opening speech here.
Professor at Hong Kong University, Kasper Meisner Nielsen then came to the stage to talk about the latest research that he and professor at INSEAD Morten Bennedsen have been working on the past decade. The presentation was divided in two parts and Morten Bennedsen was invited on skype. The first part was based on a survey of 13,000 owner-managers about their approach to exit planning, while the second part was an introduction of the tool "The Ownership Strategy Map". Owner-manager and CEO of Dansk Brandteknik A/S Ralf Dujardin then gave an insight into his family-owned business and the thoughts they have had in relation to succession and planning of the company's future. Watch his presentation here and download his PowerPoint presentation here.
Before lunch the conference offered a panel discussion consisting of owner-manager Ralf Dujardin and advisors from PwC, BDO and ASNET who discussed the use of "The Ownership Strategy Map". Watch the panel debate here.
The next speaker was Professor at CBS Ellen M. Korsager who talked about the more soft values of a change of ownership and, among other things introduced the "Ownership barometer" with four different archetypes of an owner-manager. The conference ended with a panel discussion consisting of owner-manager Bjarne Bentzen, advisors and a spouse concerning who should begin the talk about ownership and leadership as well as how to initiate the planning. Watch the panel discussion here.
