CBS aims for the European top in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation. A further important step has now been made with the appointment of Alan Irwin, Professor and former Dean of Research, as VP for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.

- CBS's efforts into Entrepreneurship & Innovation will have even greater influence on Danish society. With this appointment we will maintain our position as the Danish entrepreneurship university and be recognised as one of the leading players in Europe, says Per Holten-Andersen, CBS President, about the appointment.

The new Vice President is appointed for a period of 3 years and will refer to the President, but will be working closely with the other members of the Senior Management.

The President further explains that entrepreneurship and innovation play a significant part in all CBS's main activities – education, research and dissemination. The position therefore reaches across the deanship areas and the objective is for the new position to improve the coordination of efforts.

- We want to develop and strengthen internal relations between our departments, Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship (CSE), the Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Professorship of Entrepreneurship and the BiS platform for entrepreneurship. Alan will also strengthen our external collaboration with e.g. Symbion, Venture Cup and the academically relevant professional environments at Danish and foreign universities, says Per Holten-Andersen.

Alan Irwin looks forward to taking on new challenges:

- CBS already has substantial strength and a distinctive voice in this area – and its national and international importance is very clear. My goal is to raise the standing of innovation and entrepreneurship within and outside CBS – in terms of teaching, research and practical application. This is a great opportunity both for CBS and the Danish business community.
