CBS PRME welcomes Associate Professor Caroline Aggestam Pontoppidan as its new Academic Director

The office of Responsible Management Education (PRME) at CBS is delighted to welcome Associate Professor Caroline Aggestam Pontoppidan from the Department of Accounting as its new Academic Director.

After seven fruitful and inspiring years, Professor Kai Hockerts will be stepping down from the position as of 1 January 2019.

Caroline has a PhD in accounting from CBS (2005) and comes to our office with an inspiring and very relevant work and research background. In addition, she is a PRINCE2 certified project manager. She has previously held positions in various bodies of the United Nations. Her current work focuses on the interlinkages between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and integrated reporting and establishing measurability in the private and public sector. She initiated a project (PREMSED), that seeks to connect selected SDGs and economic sustainability. As well as her research in the SDGs and integrated reporting, another of Caroline’s primary research areas is financial accounting and governance in the United Nations, European Union and other international institutions. A second research theme of Caroline’s is that of the global governance of professional accountant’s competence.

Gregor Halff, Dean of Education, says: “We had exceptionally strong candidates for the role, so a lot of rigour has gone into this appointment. Caroline’s profile is a perfect fit for the next phase of PRME.”

Martiina M Srkoc, Head of Section, also added “I am delighted to welcome onboard Caroline. I know I speak for the entire team when I say that we are very happy and excited she will be part of the next chapter for PRME. Globally as well as locally, PRME is looking to embark on new paths and journeys in our pursuit of bringing about greater responsible management education. In these times of uncertainty and global challenges, the need for responsible and sustainable management practices are ever more pressing but I am certain with this new appointment we will rise to these challenges.”
