Use of Management Control Systems (MCSs) may be associated with standardization, boundaries and built on history. In contrast, growth and innovation in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are associated with change and flexibility. The Ph.D. project explores how these seemingly contradictory properties reconcile and how growth and size of companies comes into play.
