Workshop on Values-Based Business Model Innovation

Do you want to know how to create new offerings, business models, and new markets based on what you care about? Do you want to know which kinds of values already impact corporate cultures and organisational development today? When join the workshop on Values-Based Business Model Innovation led by Dr. Florian Lüdeke-Freund, Senior Research Associate at University of Hamburg, Hamburg, School of Business, Economics and Social Sciences.

Wednesday, January 18, 2017 - 14:00 to 17:00

This workshop introduces the essentials of the Values-Based Innovation Framework. It will provide a framework, guidelines and tools to renew businesses by focusing on essential values and help innovators solve societal problems. Values-based innovation can motivate the development of new networks and business models that address complex societal problems, such as the unsustainability of current forms of energy supply.

Participants in up to four groups have the opportunity to test a card-based facilitation method to develop values-based and sustainability-oriented business models. This method builds on the Business Innovation Kit and the Sustainability Innovation Pack. The Business Innovation Kit has been applied in more than 100 workshops around the globe. The Sustainability Innovation Pack is a new extension set developed to support entrepreneurial teams in creating ecologically and socially responsible and sustainable business models.

The workshop builds on insights from the book by Henning Breuer and Florian Lüdeke-Freund: “Values-Based Innovation Management – Innovating by What We Care about” (Palgrave). The book reveals how innovation in processes, products, services, business models and networks may be managed by what we care about. Readers will be encouraged to explore not only sustainability-orientation and values of privacy or safety, but also their own unique values as relevant drivers for change within and across organisations.

Coffee and tea will be served.

The research seminar is organised by the Governing Responsible Business (GRB) Research Environment.
