CBS' master programmes are popular. The new figures show that 8,243 people have applied for place on a CBS master programme as their first choice. This represents an increase of 26 percent compared to 2013.

Applicant numbers have been rising over the years, but the last increase of this magnitude was in 2009. There are 38 percent more applicants with an international bachelor degree than there were last year and many of them are from German and Italian universities. This is an indication of CBS' reputation abroad, says Wilbert van der Meer, Director of the Dean's Office, Education at CBS:

- We are very pleased about the high level of interest in our master programmes. Their popularity could be because the programmes have a high academic standard and lead to good employment opportunities. The large number of applications from foreign students confirms CBS' international reputation,” says Wilbert van der Meer.

Many applications from holders of professional bachelor degrees
A significant number of applications come from other education institutions in Denmark. It is interesting to note that the number of applicants with a Danish non-university education background has risen by 73 percent since last year, reflecting CBS' popularity among many people who have a professional bachelor’s degree. They have sought places on programmes such as e-Business and Service Management, which have correspondingly experienced a surge in demand. Overall, applicants to e-Business have more than doubled.

Most popular programmes
The programme that has truly soared in popularity is the MSc in Supply Chain Management, for which applicants have more than doubled. The MSc in Brand & Communications Management has also experienced a huge rise, with 64 percent more applicants.

If the total number of places on the MSc programmes stays unchanged at 1,400, many qualified applicants to these programmes will have to be turned down this year, says Anne Mette Hou, Head of the Admissions Office.

The number of places is determined by 15 May at the latest and candidates are notified on 15 June.
