Awarding of this year’s Tietgen prize

Is it possible to do research which is for the good of society as well of academic merit?

Yes it is and Lars Bo Jeppesen, assistant professor and PhD at Department of Industrial Economics and Strategy is one of the young researchers who has done it. He is therefore awarded the Tietgen Prize. Lars Bo Jeppesen’s innovative research on user innovation and distributed innovation has earned him the prize.

- There were a lot of applicants and a very high academic level this year. This follows a trend from the past few years and we can ascertain that the coming generation of research in business economics will have a high standard, - says professor and Director of Reseach, Hans Siggaard Jensen, Chairman of Tietgenprisen.

Apart from Lars Bo Jeppesen Dannie Kjeldsgaard from Syddansk University and Bjarne Benstrup from Aarhus University received the prize. They all received a gold medal as well as DKK 100.000 and are thus the latest in a long line of prominent researchers who have received the prize.

The Tietgen Award was established in 1929 in connection with the 100 year anniversary of the birth of C.F. Tietgen and is given to young business economics researchers. The researchers have to be Post Doc level, which means assistant professors or younger associate professors that have been researching for max. 4 years after getting a PhD and the equivalent.

The prize is given by DEA and will be presented at the Annual DEA meeting on Wednesday, April 18th 2007.
