Student heading for financial life in London

He was selected for a so-called internship at Deutche Bank among more than 1,000 applicants. He got the only exchange student space available to CBS at London School of Economics and now he is the first Danish recipient of Mansion House Scholarship.

Spending summer holidays at the bank

24-year-old Jonas Bengtson is taking a Master of Science in Applied Economics & Finance and looks forward to 10 weeks of work at an international investment bank in London where he will be working as an analyst. When the job is over he stays in the city to study for another semester.

- In the long run I would like to work in the financial sector in London or New York so this period of time offers an incredible opportunity, which I can’t say no to. Deutche Bank are experts in the exact area that I want to work, - says Jonas Bengtson.

Visit at the embassy

He has just been to the British Embassy where he met with the Lord Mayor in City of London, John Stuttard and the British ambassador David Frost to officially receive the British scholarship awarded to students going to study or work in the financial sector.

Each year about 15 students receive the scholarship. It has been awarded in 33 countries but this will be the first time a Danish student has received the scholarship.

Mansion House Scholarship

Every year in November a Lord Mayor is elected in the City of London who also functions as an ambassador in the financial sector. During the year he visits a number of countries and awards the so-called “Mansion House Scholarship” to one candidate in each country – if there is a relevant candidate.
