CBS puts a turbulent industry on the agenda

In the last couple of years, the airline industry has experienced some turbulent times, which have created different strategies: consolidations, divisions, mergers as well as co-operations between budget airlines and traditional airlines. Air France, KLM, Lufthansa and Swiss Air have decided on mergers as their solution. SAS has divided the company into divisions, and Quantas is following a similar strategy, but what are the advantages and disadvantages of the different strategies.

Consolidation or separation?

“What can management do in an industry that is ever changing? Is merging the answer to the question or is the creation of small specialized units the way to success? On the Airways 06 conference, we will take a closer look at the current situation for European Airlines and discuss the consequences of the different strategies in the future,” says Lise Lyck, Director, Center for Tourism and Culture Management.
