"The Good, Bad, and Ugly in Danish Art-based intervention"

"Two decades of innovation research have paved the way towards more sophisticated forms of innovation management - we know more about how to handle new ideas than ever before. But a number of indicators (including a recent innovation survey of leading Scandinavian companies) are suggesting that this isn't enough. Often the innovation systems being used aren't providing enough high quality ideas and/or leading to solutions that don't fit well with the life sphere of the organizations where they must be implemented. To address this issue, an increasing number of companies worldwide are turning to the arts - not just for inspiration, but for fundamentally different ways to innovate.

In this presentation, David Barry will go over some research that he has done into these arts-based innovation experiments, presenting cases which have worked really well and some which have been huge flops. The ensuing discussion will revolve around how to take this work forward - what can we learn from these contrasting cases and what might we do differently?"
