Networks and Institutions: Linking Network Dynamics and Institutional Diversity to Explain Organizational Change

Guest lecture by Professor Walter W. Powell

Walter W. Powell is Professor of Education and affiliated Professor of Organizational Behavior, Sociology, and Communications at Stanford University. He is also an external faculty member at the Santa Fe Institute. At Stanford, he is Director of the Scandinavian Consortium on Organizational Research. He holds an honorary professorship at CBS.

Walter W. Powell has written numerous articles and books on networks, institutions, and on the flows of knowledge at the university-industry interfaces. Much of his recent work focuses on innovation, inter-organizational collaboration in the life sciences, and on the role of patenting in the life sciences.
