Globalisation, Internationalisation of Companies and Cross-Cultural Management

Conference on globalization with focus on international business in the perspective of developed, developing and transition economies, including how the global economy is formed and develops from the interaction of companies from these three groups of countries.

The academic sponsors of the conference are the International Business Economics Research Group at Aalborg University and the Business in Development Research Group at the Copenhagen Business School.

The conference is based on the understanding that globalisation is a dynamic process involving an unceasing interaction between people, companies and institutions from all corners of the world. The objectives are three-fold:

  1. To bring together scholars from developed, developing and transitional economies to share their current understanding of their respective positions and challenges within the globalisation process.

  2. To create a framework for positioning business at the centre stage of development thinking and research.

  3. To initiate a process of developing an international network of researchers focusing on business and development.

Themes

The programme of the conference will be organised around ten main themes. The themes reflect the main issues of international business as observed in a developed, development and transition setting. The themes are as follows:

  1. Globalisation in the perspective of developed, developing and transition economies.

  2. Internationalisation of companies from developed, developing and transition economies.

  3. Culture and cross-cultural management

  4. FDIs and business linkages E/W; N/S; E/S, etc.

  5. International knowledge generation, transfer of technology, etc

  6. The global search for static and dynamic efficiency

  7. In search of an ethical and sustainable global business system

  8. Internet and e-markets

  9. International entrepreneurship

  10. Methodology for cross-cultural studies.
