Motivated by a wish to deepen, expand and reinforce a range of research areas CBS Public-Private Platform and the innovative unit MindLab have decided to engage in a broad strategic partnership.

MindLab and the CBS Public-Private Platform share common values and interests in areas and agendas within teaching, research and outreach/public engagement and the two organizations have previous done successful collaboration. In the spring 2012, for instance, MindLab facilitated the Public-Private Platform’s first yearly returning conference and workshop The Collaboratory – a collaboration lab and an initiative with the purpose of gathering researchers, business leaders, politicians, managers, intellectuals, citizens and other actors with the aim of contributing to a society-wide discussion about changing public/private relations, their possibilities and their pitfalls.

With this new partnership the hope is to launch additional mutual projects as well as increase the focus on common interest. Professor and Academic Director at the Platform, Paul du Gay expresses:

“MindLab is one of the most influential and innovative public policies think tanks in Scandinavia, and indeed, in Europe. For some time now, the CBS Public-Private Platform has worked closely with MindLab in developing our mutual interests in research, teaching and public engagement. The Public-Private Platform is delighted that this productive relationship is now to be put onto a more permanent institutional footing through a Strategic Partnership between our two organizations. This is an exciting venture for us both, and we expect great things from it.”

MindLab is a cross-ministerial innovation unit located as a part of the Danish Ministry of Business and Growth, the Danish Ministry of Employment and the Danish Ministry of Children and Education. The primary purpose of the unit is to address public challenges through user driven design experiences in hope of creating new and better solutions gainful for the society. The CBS Public-Private Platform seeks to influence cross-sectorial policy challenges both for public and private businesses. Together, the two organizations reach a broad stakeholder and interest group and with a common effort in research, teaching and outreach/public engagement through academic seminars, conferences and a continuously reflection of the potential within public development and government the partnership holds great future possibilities.  As Christian Bason, Director of Innovation at Mindlab, stresses:

“CBS is among the leading research environments within public organization, operation and development. In MindLab we explore end experiment with new approaches and solutions, which demands continuously and in depth reflection concerning the implications and extent. With regards to this a partnership with an ambitious research platform such as CBS Public-Private Platform gives us a unique opportunity both to get inspiration and not least to strengthen the effect of our work. We are looking forward to mutually sharing and learning from each other in the future.”

The strategic partnership will commence November 2012 and continue until November 2015 with the possibility of extension.
