Shipping bachelor expands to the US, Canada and China

Only 24 out of 747 applicants were admitted in the first batch of International Shipping and Trade bachelor students at CBS. CBS has been working towards expanding the program and with the newly signed collaboration agreement between CBS and universities in Canada and China, we are well underway.

“The new collaborative program between CBS, Sauder School of Business (SSB) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), is the result of the will and efforts of many individuals closely linked to the B.Sc. in International Shipping and Trade”, says Professor Britta Gammelgaard. The collaborative program will be used by CBS to expand its B.Sc. in International Shipping and Trade to the US-continent and China, but this unique opportunity will also be offered to students in the B.Sc. program in International Business.

Professor Britta Gammelgaard, who is responsible for the development of the new tri-continental program concentration in Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management, says that the program extends and becomes a part of the International Shipping and Trade bachelor at CBS.Together with Director of CBS Maritime, Henrik Sornn-Friese, she attended the ceremony in Vancouver, formalizing the collaboration between the three universities.

“This is a fantastic chance for our students to learn about culture, and how global businesses work with supply chain and logistics management in no less than three continents. To my knowledge, this program is unique in the world. Importantly, it is also a great opportunity for businesses to expand their supply chain competencies by offering internships and having a pool of talent to draw on in the longer run. We look very much forward to start this journey”, says Britta Gammelgaard.

About the tri-continental program in Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management
The concentration addresses global supply chain and logistics management issues but offers the students special insight into European, Chinese and North American supply chain and logistics conditions as the students will study in each of the three universities, one semester at a time. Furthermore, the CBS students will be offered internship in a company with supply chain and logistics management as a specific or core competency. The program is part of the B.Sc. in International Shipping and Trade at CBS.
