Charlie

Meet Charlie, a student from BSc in Business Administration and Service Management

Why did I choose my programme?
I chose SEM because it allowed me to specialise in innovation, catering to my interest in entrepreneurship while offering a broader foundation for future studies, rather than just a traditional economics degree.

What do I like the best?
Impossible to only pick one! I would say my top 3 aspects about SEM are:

  1. The dynamic blend of teaching methods that keeps things exciting.
  2. That every aspect of the programme genuinely captivates my interest, fostering a sense of personal growth and continuous learning.
  3. And, last but not least, I might be biased, but I firmly believe that SEM has the funniest, smartest, and kindest students.

What do I think is difficult?
For me the most challenging aspect has been coping with grade-related pressure. While others' ambition can be inspiring, it can sometimes contribute to comparison and stress.

What would I have liked to have known before starting my programme?
It would have been reassuring to understand that it's perfectly fine not to be a math genius to succeed in the programme, and that the SEM programme values a range of different strengths and abilities.

What do I want to do after finishing my programme?
After my bachelor's degree, I plan to continue my studies at CBS for my master's degree. It's tough to choose just one programme because I find new interests with every course. Luckily, SEM offers a broad range of options, ensuring endless possibilities for specialisation.

If I could give myself a piece of advice, before starting it would be…    I would emphasize the importance of remembering that academic performance does not define your worth. You will most likely not perform the same as you did in high school, and that change can be confusing and frustrating. Adjusting to the new environment takes time, and it's perfectly normal to experience a steep learning curve.
