Welcome to two new honorary doctors

An honorary doctorate is a prestigious title awarded by a university without the recipient defending a dissertation. At the annual CBS party on March 16th the recipients will be an innovation researcher: Professor

Eric von Hippel
(MIT, Sloan School of Management) and business historian: Professor

Geoffrey Jones
(Harvard Business School) who will receive the prizes in connection with their specialist seminars at
15:15-17:15 in the BG Auditorium.

The user in the driver’s seat

Eric von Hippel (born 1941) has gotten two PhDs from Carnegie Mellon University and Ludwig-Maximillians Universität and he is Professor of Management of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Sloan School of Management.

Von Hippel researches distributed and open innovation – and is a pioneer in the area of user-centered innovation with a considerable research production experience.

Since 1995 Eric von Hippel has been the manager of MIT Innovation Lab, and he was the prime mover in MIT’s establishment of Danish User-Centered Innovation last year.

The globalization of the beauty industry in the 20th century

Professor Geoffrey Jones (born 1952) has got a PhD from University of Cambridge and is Isidor Strauss Professor of Business History at Harvard Business School and fellow at Royal Historical Society.

Geofrey Jones sheds a light on the international economy and the work and development of multinational companies from the 19th century till today’s global economy. He is a very productive researcher and several of his books and articles have won academic prizes for their important empirical knowledge and important input in the area of international business, entrepreneurship and globalization. He is currently working on a research project on the globalization of the beauty industry in the 20th century.
