Media, lifestyle and fashion in China: An insider's perspective

By Mr. Chen Weixian

February 2, 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm, SP213 Solbjerg Plads

Mr Chen Weixian is a Chinese journalist with extensive experience. He has worked for a government newspaper and an English-language financial magazine 'China International Business', before joining the Danish company Kopenhagen Fur as a China area manager. His first major task for Kopenhagen Fur has been to develop and launch a new lifestyle magazine, titled 'Style', for the Chinese business market. He is currently investigating the fashion media in order to formulate a strategy for promoting Danish-bred furs in the Chinese market.

Mr Chen will visit Copenhagen Business School on February 2nd in order to share his experience. At the seminar, Mr Chen will present his interpretation of the current media boom in China, including the following aspects: government control over the media, corporate relations, the growth of the internet, the development of fashion media in relation to luxury consumption and changing lifestyles. The presentation will include an overview of the media situation as well as concrete examples, based on first-hand experience.

The seminar will include an extensive Q&A session, so students who are writing projects and others with a special interest are invited to submit their questions to Mr Chen in advance.
