World’s leading management conference

CBS is among the strongest represented universities from Europe at Academy of Management (AOM conference in Philadelphia.) There are about 7,000 participants from all over the world and app. 1,200 sessions held over the five days that the conference lasts. Outside of North America only six universities are represented with more than 30 participants, among them CBS.

The conference gives positive results

- At CBS we have chosen to focus on this conference and make it central to our researchers, since Academy of Management has a good reputation. We do it because we believe it is worth it in the long run. Both in relation to the research that we represent but also in relation to our collaborative relations with other universities, says Professor and Associate Dean of Dissemination Flemming Poulfelt.

Feedback from the whole world

The conference shows the interdisciplinary integration going on within the area of management and allows the researchers the opportunity to be represented to other areas of expertise than their own, while at the same time allowing the researchers the possibility to get direct feedback from their work by colleagues from all over the world.

Who are we?

Annemette Kjærgaard and Mette Morsing from IKL participate with a paper that focuses on identity and Lee Davis from INT writes about how smaller biotech companies directly influence the patenting processes.

- It is about presenting Danish research and thus achieve acknowledgement abroad. At the same time making CBS visible. We get a chance to show what we stand for in terms of research and education and thereby attract researchers and students from abroad, says Flemming Poulfelt.

From 10 to 18,000 members

Academy of Management was founded in 1936 and at the time consisted of 10 members. Today the organization has app. 18,000 members from 101 countries and the conference is considered the world’s largest annual management forum for researchers and practitioners.

The majority of the members are researchers but also students and practitioners are among the members.
