New research: Possible to make a balanced comparison of salary levels

Before the financial crisis, executive compensation was booming both in Denmark and abroad. But where are we now? Are Danish CEO's underpaid compared to their peers in the rest of Europe and the USA? Is the amount on the Danish pay checks in fact higher?

Danish top executives are closing the gap on foreign colleagues

On Tuesday 11 October, new research is presented within one of the most controversial topics in the business debate. Executive pay. The presentation will take place on a conference with the participation of 200 Danish top executives, lawyers and accountants.

- It is the first time we are presenting research that makes it possible to make a balanced comparison of the salary levels of Danish CEO's with those of the executives in the rest of Europe and USA. In general we can say that the difference is not as significant as you might think, says Professor Ken L. Bechmann from CBS, who conducts research in executive compensation. He is looking forward to reveal more results at the conference.

Up to now, there has been a lack of research results that systematically take the size differential of the companies in the different countries into account.  But now it is possible to allow for the significant amount of huge multinationals in USA as opposed to Denmark.

The financial crisis gives rise to reflection

At the conference, foreign experts will give an idea of how executive pay is composed for the benefit of the companies and the shareholders. Professor Ken L. Bechmann will then describe how the pay package for Danish bank manager is composed at the moment - and then compare it with top executives in Europe and USA.

 

Executive compensation: Where are we now

The conference is organised in collaboration between CBS and PwC and determines the status of executive pay after the financial crisis. What have we learned from the financial crisis? What will executive pay look like in the future? What are the salary levels and how are they composed? Listen to the results from a Danish and an international perspective.
