1.354 applicants in July 2011

The latest admission figures for the diploma programmes (HD part I and II) have been added up and the expectations have already been exceeded. The final figures are not known until October, but up to now (1 July) 1,354 people have applied. Add to this a couple of hundred single subject students.

An additional intake of 20 percent

In comparison, there were 1,406 fee-paying students as at 1 October 2010.

- So there is not a long way to go before we match last year's intake, says Ingrid Amelie Thorn, Group Manager for the diploma programmes.

- We are still taking in students, and normally there is an additional intake of approx. 20 % up to the beginning of the semester. So the figures are quite positive this year, even if we take the dropout rate into account.

The positive admission figures must be seen in light of the graduate diploma's (HD part II) record intake last year.

- We did not expect a similar intake this year. The high intake at the graduate diploma programme in 2010 was primarily owing to the fact that 100 more people were admitted to the graduate certificate programme (part I) in 2008. They were ready for part II in 2010. In return, the applicant figures for part I were lower in 2009, which is why we expected a negative rub-off on part II in 2011, says Ingrid Amelie Thorn.
