RSPO and Nudge (NUDGE)
The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and the Copenhagen Business School, will develop research to study the potential for behavioral economic interventions along the sustainable palm oil value chain, more popularly known as “nudging.” This research will, first, identify points in the value chain where cognitive biases impede the uptake of the standard and, second, develop plans for the use of randomized controlled trials to test the effects of nudges on uptake. Here we identify key questions, and a flexible scoping approach to identify points for intervention.Key Questions:
● Where are there opportunities to implement nudges across the RSPO value chain?
● Which nudges, affecting which stakeholder groups or points in the value chain, would yield the greatest ROI?
● What is the time frame in which results can be assessed? (i.e.classify as potential “quick wins” or longer term strategies)
