Opening of Research Centre on Biotech Business

Invitation to the opening of CBS Research Centre on Biotech Business

Wednesday, April 14, 2004 - 14:00 to Thursday, May 13, 2004 - 16:05

You are cordially invited to the opening of a new centre at CBS, dedicated to research on

Biotech Business, on April 14th from 2 till 4 p.m.

With

Biotech Business, we wish to focus research on a number of the management and economic issues associated with biotechnology and with research-driven business in general. These areas are characterised not only by particular management challenges but also by their intensive interplay with universities, venture capital, the political system etc.

Biotechnology, as a wholly science-driven business, brings out with unusual clarity a set of issues that increasingly appear across a broader spectrum of industries, and which consequently must be reflected in research at CBS. In addition, the biotech field carries special significance for the Øresund region and thus for CBS?s interaction with neighbouring institutes and companies.

For these reasons, we now give added attention to this field. The

Biotech Business centre has just been supported with a significant, joint grant from the Research Councils, the biotech industry and CBS. The centre gathers projects, which are carried out at different CBS departments, and whose subjects span a broad range of issues, as evident from the enclosed, short summaries of current projects. Additional projects will be added to the centre in the future and will be presented in more detail on the homepage, which will be launched at the same time as the centre:
